Background:
In the Spring of 2007, Communities In Schools of Putnam County, applied for a grant from the Florida Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs to provide the Heroes' Journey Program to students participating in the RISE 21st CCLC program at River Breeze and James A. Long Elementary Schools. With the help of the Heroes' Foundation and Sponsored in part by the state of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural affairs and the Florida Arts Council, and the National endowment for the ARTS, approximately 200 students participated in this enriching program.
