Take Stock in Children
CIS has partnered with Take Stock in Children, to
target deserving, low income children to receive full tuition scholarships to
college or vocational school. However, kids first must honor their end of the
bargain. They must avoid drugs and crime, maintain satisfactory grades, and
exhibit good behavior in school.
Along with the promise of a scholarship, each child
in the Take Stock program is matched with a mentor. Mentors are caring adult
volunteers who meet with students once a week at school to offer encouragement,
motivation, and support. Mentors also serve as positive role models for the
students.
