Join the Putnam County Child Abuse Prevention Task Force in bringing awareness of the growing problem of child abuse throughout the nation. Last year in Putnam County there were 796 documented cases of child abuse. The Task Force’s theme this year is “Prevent our Children from Walking in These Shoes”. To depict this theme, 796 pairs of used shoes will be on display at the Palatka Wal-Mart Supercenter located on State Road 19 starting April 20, 2007, and ending with a shoe “giveaway” on Sunday, April 22nd from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Please consider donating used or new shoes (infants through teens) to this very worthwhile community project. If you would like to donate shoes, make a monetary donation, or volunteer to help with this project, please call the Communities In Schools’ office at 386-328-8875 for more information. |
